故事发生在一幢破旧的老式公寓之中，少年查理（朱尔·本切特 Jules Benchetrit 饰）的对门搬来了一位名叫珍妮（伊莎贝尔·于佩尔 Isabelle Huppert 饰）的新邻居，珍妮曾是一名红极一时的女演员，如今已经过气。查理决定帮助珍妮获得一个对珍妮来说十分重要的角色。

From a human standpoint, the series describes the enormous tragedy that befell the Soviet people between 1878 and 1945, as they found themselves caught in a trap that became a living hell.
